As per the report of The Technical Group by the National Commission, The population of Gujarat is projected to be 71,794,000 or 71.8 million or 7.18 crores as of July 1, 2023. Gujarat is the 8th most populous state in india. Gujarat’s population is projected to reach 8.15 cr in 2036.
The size of the population of Gujarat is equivalent to Thailand, the 20th most populous country in the world. Only one country in South America, two country in Europe, two country in North America and four countries in Africa have more people than Gujarat.
In 2023, the sex ratio of the total population in Gujarat is 110.503 males per 100 females. There are 37,688,000 or 37.7 million or 3.77 cr males and 34,106,000 or 34.1 million or 3.41 cr females in Gujarat. Gujarat has 3,582,000 or 3.58 mn more males than females.
Gujarat accounts for 5.16 percent of the India population, that is highest since 1901. Population growth rate for 2023 is projected at 1.21 % with addition of 860 k more people.
According to the Census of India 2011, the population of the state of Gujarat was 6.04 cr, increasing from 5.07 cr in 2001. There were 31,491,260 males and 28,948,432 females, with a sex ratio of 108.784 males per 100 females. The percentage decadal growth during 2001-2011 was 19.28%, 3.38% lower than 1991-2001 period.
