The current population of Taiwan is 23,929,762 as of September 26, 2023, based on interpolation of the latest United Nations data. The population of Taiwan is projected at 23,855,010 or 23.855 million as of July 1, 2021. The total population in Taiwan is projected at 23,816,775 or 23.817 million people for the year 2020. Taiwan ranks number 57th in the world by population in the list of 235 countries/territories. Taiwan is ranked 22nd among 51 countries in Asia.

Taiwan's population peak will be 2029 with 24.01 mn people after Taiwan's population will be decreased year by year. The Taiwan population is projected to reach 24.01 million in 2030 and decrease further to 22.41 million in 2050 and 16.26 million by 2100. Taiwan accounts for 0.30 percent of the world population. However, its global share will decline by 0.39% in 1986 and is projected to decline at 0.15% by 2100.

Taiwan was at 50th position globally in 1950, and its rank is projected to decline at 84th in 2100.

According to the Census of India 2011, the population of India stood at 1,210,854,977. The percentage of decadal growth during 2001-2011 was 17.70%, 3.84% lower than the 1991-2001 period. The percentage of decadal growth during 2001-2011 has registered the sharpest decline since independence. The population of India had increased by 182.1 million during the decade 2001- 2011. The increased population during the decade 2001-2011 is approximately equal to the population of Pakistan, the sixth most populous country in the world.

The population of India, which at the turn of the twentieth century, was only around 238.4 million, increased by more than five times in a period of 110 years to reach 1210 million in 2011. The population of India has increased by 3.35 times since independence.
