The services sector is the largest sector of India. Gross Value Added (GVA) at current prices for the services sector is estimated at 164.93 lakh crore INR in 2024-25. The services sector accounts for 54.93% of India's total GVA of 300.22 lakh crore Indian rupees. With a GVA of Rs. 81.44 lakh crore, the industry sector contributes 27.13%. While agriculture and allied sectors share 17.94%.
At 2011-12 prices, the agriculture & allied, industry, and services sectors' composition is 14.41%, 30.66%, and 54.93%, respectively.
The share of the primary (comprising agriculture, forestry, fishing, and mining & quarrying), secondary (comprising manufacturing, electricity, gas, water supply & other utility services, and construction), and tertiary (services) sectors have been estimated as 19.74 percent, 25.33 percent, and 54.93 percent.
According to the World Bank, sector-wise Indian GDP composition in 2023 is as follows: Agricultural (15.57%), Industry (25.01%), and Services (49.80%). With the production of agricultural activity of $567 billion, India is the 2nd largest producer of agricultural products. India accounts for 13.04 percent of total global agricultural output. India is way behind China, which has a $1,267 billion GDP in the agriculture sector. The GDP of the industry sector is $888 billion, and the world rank is 5. India's world rank is 7th in the services sector, and its GDP is $1,768 billion.
In previous methodology, the composition of the agriculture & allied, industry, and services sectors was 51.81%, 14.16%, and 33.25%, respectively, at current prices in 1950-51. The share of agriculture & allied sectors has declined to 18.20% in 2013-14. The share of the services sector has improved to 57.03%. The share of the industry sector has also increased to 24.77%.
