As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Jharkhand is projected to be 40,129,000, or 40.13 million, or 4.01 crore, as of July 1, 2024. Jharkhand is the 12th most populous state in India. Jharkhand’s population is projected to reach 4.53 crore in 2036.
The size of the population of Jharkhand is equivalent to that of Poland, the 37th most populous country in the world. Only three countries in South America, two in North America, seven in Europe, and ten in Africa have more people than Jharkhand.
In 2024, the sex ratio of the total population in Jharkhand will be 104.677 males per 100 females. There are 20,523,000, or 20.52 million, or 2.05 crore, males and 19,606,000, or 19.61 million, or 1.96 crore, females in Jharkhand. Jharkhand has 917,000, or 917k, more males than females.
Jharkhand accounts for 2.86 percent of the Indian population, the highest since 1901. The population growth rate in 2024 is projected at 1.25%, the 2nd highest among states. Jharkhand will add 497k more people in 2024.
According to the Census of India 2011, the population of the state of Jharkhand was 3.3 crore, increasing from 2.69 crore in 2001.
