As per the report of the Technical Group by the National Commission, the population of Odisha is projected to be 46,663,000, or 46.66 million, or 4.66 crore, as of July 1, 2024. Odisha is the 11th-most populous state in India. Odisha’s population is projected to reach 4.91 crore in 2036.
The size of the population of Odisha is equivalent to that of Iraq, the 33rd most populous country in the world. Only two countries in South America and North America, six in Europe, and nine in Africa have more people than Odisha.
In 2024, the sex ratio of the total population in Odisha will be 101.125 males per 100 females. There are 23,462,000, or 23.46 million, or 2.35 crore, males and 23,201,000, or 23.2 million, or 2.32 crore, females in Odisha. Odisha has 261,000, or 261k, more males than females.
Odisha accounts for 3.32 percent of the Indian population, which is 1.19% less than the peak level of 4.51% in 1911. The population growth rate for 2024 is projected at 0.63%, the 9th lowest among states. Odisha will add 290,000 more people in 2024.
