In 2026, Thailand is projected to have a moderately female-skewed sex ratio of 94.53 males per 100 females, meaning females outnumber males by a notable margin. Based on its overall female-to-male ratio, Thailand ranks 53rd among 237 countries and territories worldwide and 7th among 51 Asian entities and first among ASEAN members. Its sex ratio is similar to those of Mozambique, Kiribati, and South Africa.

Thailand has 34,773,069 (34.77 million) males and 36,786,546 (36.79 million) females in 2026, resulting in a female surplus of approximately 2.01 million people. Males account for 48.59% of the population, while females make up 51.41%. Thailand has the fourth-largest female surplus in Asia, after Japan and Bangladesh and Vietnam, and the ninth largest worldwide.

In Thailand, the male-to-female ratio increased from 100.80 males per 100 females in 1950 to a peak of 101.82 in 1965. Since then, the ratio has steadily declined, falling below parity in 1993, when females began to outnumber males. Thailand's sex ratio is projected to remain below parity through 2100.

The sex ratio at birth in Thailand is approximately 106.4 male births per 100 female births. Historically, the ratio has remained relatively stable, fluctuating within a range of 106.3 to 106.5 male births per 100 female births.

As of 2026, Thailand has more males than females in age groups below 40 years. The 00–04 age group has the highest male-to-female ratio, at 106.31 males per 100 females. Among children under 15, the sex ratio stands at 106.17. The working-age population aged 15–64 is female-skewed, with 97.14 males per 100 females. However, the ratio declines sharply among those aged 65 and older, falling to 76.43 males for every 100 females. Among older adults, women substantially outnumber men, with females outnumbering males by about 3 to 2 in the 80–84 age group and by about 2 to 1 among those aged 90 and over.
