In Germany, the male-to-female ratio has risen from 83.40 males per 100 females in 1950 and is projected to reach its highest level in 2026. Despite this long-term improvement, Germany’s sex ratio is expected to remain below parity until 2064.

The sex ratio at birth in Germany is approximately 105.7 male births for every 100 female births. Historically, the ratio has remained relatively stable, fluctuating within a narrow range from about 107.3 in 1950 to 105.1 in 2010, indicating minor variation over time.

As of 2026, Germany has more males than females in age groups below 50. The 25–29 age group has the highest male-to-female ratio, with 109.79 males for every 100 females. Among children under 15, the sex ratio stands at 105.45, while the working-age population (15–64) is moderately male-skewed, with 103.35 males per 100 females. However, the ratio declines sharply among those aged 65 and older, falling to 80.50 males for every 100 females. Among the older adults, women substantially outnumber men, with females outnumbering males by roughly 2 to 1 in the 90–94 age group and by about 5 to 1 among centenarians.
