The percentage of the female population is 53.63 percent compared to 46.37 percent male population. Russia has 10.44 million more females than males. Russia has the highest number of exceed females. Among European countries, its position is 2nd out of 49 countries and territories behind the Republic of Moldova.

In 1950, male to female ratio in Russia was at the lowest point of 76.905 that has increased to the highest level of 88.360 in 1994. Thereafter the ratio of male to female is decreasing and it will decrase untill 1935. Onward 1935, sex raio is projected to keep increasing to reach 95.102 in 2100.

As of 2025, Russia has more males than females aged below 34 years group. The male-to-female ratio is at the highest point of 105.69 for the age group 05-09. The child sex ratio (0-14 age group) in Russia is 105.644 and men to women ratio is 93.947 for the group aged 15–64. With two females per male, Russia has 2nd highest female-to-male ratio globally for aged below 65 years. Women outnumber men by a ratio of 2-to-1 in the age group 70-79 years, a ratio of 3-to-1 for 80-89 years, and a ratio of 5-to-1 for centenarians. The sex ratio at birth is 105.6 boys per 100 girls.
