List of Countries by GDP (PPP)

GDP is the total market value of all final goods and services produced in a country in a given year. Each country reports its data in its own currency. To compare the data, each country's statistics must be converted into a common currency. Two methods are used for conversion, nominal and purchasing power parity (PPP). In purchasing power parity (PPP) exchange rate — the rate at which the currency of one country would have to be converted into that of another country to buy the same amount of goods and services in each country. IMF explains, "If a hamburger is selling in London for £2 and in New York for $4, this would imply a PPP exchange rate of 1 pound to 2 U.S. dollars".

With 18.4% of the world economy, China is the world's largest economy in 2022, On a PPP basis. The total economy of china is estimated at over 30 trillion international dollars. The United States follows China with a figure of 25.5 trillion. Tuvalu is the world's smallest national economy with a GDP (PPP) of approximately Int. $58 million.

Thirty-one economies have gdp (ppp) greater than $1 trillion. In 2022, Malaysia crossed $1 trillion marks. Ninty-six have above Int. $100 billion and 161 have above Int. $10 billion. The top five economies constitute close to half of the global gdp; the top ten make up 60.5%, top 20 economies add up to over 75%. Eighty smallest economies only contribute 1 %, and 151 lowest ranked constitute only 10 % of the total.

Top Gainers in 2022: At current prices, With $2,798 bn, China is the highest gainer, followed by Turkey (Int. $75 bn), United States (Int. $2148 bn), India (Int. $1530 bn), Japan (Int. $462 bn) and Indonesia (Int. $454 bn).

Top Losers in 2022: Out of 195 economies estimated by IMF, the GDP of 5 economies decreased in 2022 compared to 2021. These five are: Ukraine (Int. $-143 bn), Macao SAR (Int. $-11 bn), Afghanistan (Int. $-8 bn), Libya (Int. $-5 bn) and Sri Lanka (Int. $-4 bn).

Changes in rank: Guyana (+12), Niger (+6) and Tajikistan (+5), are the top improvers in ppp ranking. Macao SAR fell by huge 19 spots, followed by Ukraine (-10), Afghanistan (-9) and Haiti (-5).
